The Chopwell Gambit is a race where your first move, when to start, could decide your success.

Set in the dramatic backdrop of Chopwell Woods in North-East England, this is the inaugural TwistedTrails event.

​

Unlike a typical trail race, we already know when the race finishes. The only question is: when will you begin?

Runners can leave any time after 10:30 am and must be back by 12:00 noon or else your time won't count. The clock doesn’t stop, no matter when you cross the line.

Your result depends entirely on how late you dare to start, the last to start wins. Go too early, you may finish with time to spare and will agonisingly watch the clock tick on regardless. Leave too late, and you risk missing the cutoff and losing it all.​

The Chopwell Gambit is more than a race: it’s a test of nerve, and strategy.
